HRPPC Capabilities
The High Resolution Plant Phenomics Centre has the technology, scientific expertise and technological support to provide several capabilities to the plant research community, from growth analysis through imaging to hyperspectral remote sensing.
Growth Analysis
Currently we are utilising a range of technologies including:
- Optical Growth Analysis
- 3D Reconstruction
Plant Shape/Structure Characterisation
This capability includes in-silico morphological analysis of plants and plant organs.
This capability utilises the following technologies:
- Stereology: analysis of geometrical relationships between plant structures in 3D
- Lidar: Full 3D reconstruction of plants
Plant Photosynthetic and Respiratory Performance
This capability includes the analysis of plant photosynthetic performance.
This capability utilises the following technologies:
- Chlorophyll fluorescence
- Gas exchange
IR Thermography
This capability includes the ability to measure spatio-temporal variations in stomatal conductance over leaves.
Phenonet
This capability includes the ability to perform real-time, internet-based monitoring of growth environments.
Growth Facilities
At the HRPPC we host a range of growth cabinets, vernalisation rooms and walk-in chambers.
Automation
At the HRPPC we are developing automated phenotyping systems for high-throughput screenings.
Scientific and Technical Support
The HRPPC brings together engineers, physiologists, microscopists, geneticists and plant breeders engaged in the development of new phenotyping methods with expertise specific to your studies.
Computational Bioimaging
The HRPPC is developing statistical methods for the analysis and quantification of biological images.
Training and Instruction
At the HRPPC we provide phenomics training and educational seminars, including instructor-led training.
Molecular Bioimaging
Molecular imaging technologies are being adapted to plant systems to examine the regulatory mechanisms of plant organs systems. Our capabilities will include single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
