Crop Plant Shoot Module
This module includes 3D imaging for plant architecture and growth analysis, allowing multiple images to be overlayed. Hyperspectral reflectance for plant chemical composition and stress detection, pulse modulated chlorophyll fluorescence imaging and gas exchange for non-invasive estimation of photosynthesis, infrared thermography and carbon isotope discrimination for water use efficiency screening. This module is suitable for medium throughput screening and validation of novel screening methods in a wide range of cereals, annual and perennial plants of agricultural importance.
This module is capable of conducting analysis into:
- Whole of lifecycle photosynthesis and growth
- Dynamic growth and carbon allocation to plants organs
- Transpiration and water use
- Hyperspectral detection of leaf protein and CHO

| We will have a version of the Fluorogroscan with IR thermography. This allows us to scan for differences in rosette leaf temp and discover stomatal mutants for example. It can also be used for water use efficiency and salt tolerance screens. | |||

FTIR Image of Wheat Peduncle CHO scale: red correlates to high, green to medium and blue to low concentrationsWe have a high throughput FTIR imaging microscope for chemical composition and spatial info at the cellular scale. Gives info like lignin, starch, protein and oil distribution. |
PlantScan
PlantScan provides non-invasive analyses of plant structure (topology, surface orientation, number of leaves), morphology (leaf size, shape, colour, area, volume) and function by utilising cutting edge information technology including high resolution cameras and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction software.
